The gold is coming home!

Or, in good Bergenese, "Gullet ska' hem!" The city's A-league soccer team, Brann ("Fire") is on the verge of clinching the series title for the first time since before Kennedy was shot. Their lead in the standings is almost mathematically insurmountable. Almost. They would have to lose all their three remaining matches by, say, two or three goals each, while the second-place team won all of theirs by a similar blowout margin. But it could, theoretically, still happen, and it's an indication of the fans' long years of frustration that people are being very careful not to jinx it. The lead they had last fall was supposed to be insurmountable too, after all, and the team is famous for always being in the thick of the race and ALMOST winning before some statistically improbable but emotionally devastating last-second collapse. This time, though, they're no longer the masters of their fate, and if the other team slips up just a little bit, well, that'll do the job no matter how many goals their side lets through....

Well, they (Brann) didn't win the match last night, but that didn't stop them from singing/playing loud songs most of the evening...

"Don't feed the monkeys..."
