Great Expectations
Just thought it was time to let you all know that Inki and I are expecting a child in early August. We're very excited and looking forward to our first ultrasound next Thursday, when we should get a look at who we've been calling "Kiddo" since Christmas. We'll keep you posted as things continue to develop....

Yeah, it is. We are -- to use a word I haven't used in a LONG time -- stoked.

Well, well, well...congrats. What's the nickname for papa in Norwegian?

"Far" ("father") is what my wife calls her dad. Norwegians are pretty straightforward with what they call parents and grandparents: "far", "mor" (mother), "mormor" (maternal grandmother, i.e. mother's mother), "morfar", etc. There are some exceptions, of course; we have some friends who use Mommsen and Poppsen; she's Norwegian, he's South African. We'll see what seems to work best when the time comes, but the kid will speak English with me, so "Dad" will probably do the trick.
How's life in SF treating you?

Well, I'm trying to keep my blog as updated as possible, but it's easier to do during summer ;-). I suppose you'll be working on it less as you gain a new member to your family!
CONGRATULATIONS HERR BROWN!
