US farewell tour 2006
It's midnight here and as I'm setting this blog up, we're getting ready to hit the road early tomorrow for what will be our farewell tour of the US (or at least California). My father-in-law Andor is here visiting, and now that we've had our goodbye party, we're taking four days to drive down the Pacific Coast Highway to LA and on to San Diego. There are a couple of stops we're already planning to make, specifically the Hearst Castle in San Simeon and a Danish settlement called Solvang just north of Santa Barbara, but for the most part we're playing it by ear. With everything we've been arranging lately -- the party, Inki's job, my job search, an intercontinental move, turning off utilities, closing accounts, forwarding everything, keeping our two cats from having to suffer quarantine, etc., etc. ad infinitum -- it'll be great to just be away for a few days. All the stuff we still have to do will be waiting for us when we get back, but we're just not going to think of that for a while.
